Intelligent active ingredient compositions for healthy and beautiful skin
With over 200 valuable ingredients, aloe vera has an impressive range of effects. It is our aim to develop their full effectiveness in our cosmetics. Every Santaverde product has a unique effect. The secret is a special recipe based on pure aloe vera juice (Aloe Barbadensis Miller) from our own, controlled organic cultivation from our finca in Andalusia , supplemented with valuable plant oils and extracts.
Unique recipe: aloe instead of aqua
Pure juice from the inside of the leaf, the aloe vera gel, is a powerful complex of active ingredients for the skin and the entire organism. It supports the natural process of constant regeneration and represents a large nutrient reservoir for young skin cells.
That is why we are replacing the main ingredient in cosmetic formulas, water, with our field-fresh, pure aloe vera juice. In this way, our compositions achieve a uniquely diverse effect on the skin: regenerating, moisturizing and binding, calming and protective - individually tailored to every need of the skin.
Aloe vera juice is our top priority
A cosmetic product usually consists mostly of water - to be read first in the list of ingredients (INCI) on the product packaging. In all Santaverde products, the aloe vera juice makes up the largest proportion of ingredients and leads the INCIs. In contrast to water, the pure juice of Santaverde natural cosmetic products contains all the ingredients of fresh aloe vera leaves, of which specific polysaccharides (aloverose), essential amino acids, enzymes, mineral salts, vitamins and antioxidants are particularly valuable and effective for skin care. Pure vegetable oils and extracts complement the effects of aloe vera and complete the Santaverde recipes for individual care needs. In this way we create a unique effect for the health and beauty of the skin.
We completely do without mineral oil derivatives, synthetic colors, fragrances and preservatives and everything that puts a strain on the skin.

1. We act ecologically
Aloe Vera from our own controlled organic cultivation
Our aloe vera finca in southern Spain is certified organically. The fresh plants are grown, harvested and processed on site and carefully by hand. In this way, we guarantee the greatest possible purity and quality of our key active ingredient aloe vera , save energy, protect the environment and create more jobs than automated companies.
Organic farming is generally the most sustainable form of agriculture and can boast many other positive environmental effects: higher soil fertility, more biodiversity, ground and flood protection, species-appropriate animal husbandry, freedom from genetic engineering and the fight against poverty thanks to the possibility of small peasant livelihoods.
Raw materials from organic farming projects and from certified partner companies
All other plant raw materials that we use for our recipes come from certified organic cultivation or from wild collection. There is only an exception if a plant raw material is temporarily unavailable, which can happen if the harvest and weather conditions are poor.
We generally reject genetically manipulated raw materials because they are incompatible with our values: Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) pose an incalculable risk for nature and humans. Genetic engineering reduces the diversity of species, endangers rural structures and means irreversible human intervention in natural cycles.
Our 100% pure aloe vera juice aloepur for drinking and the majority of the raw materials used for our cosmetics bear the EU organic seal. It is based on the EC organic regulations No. 834/2007 and 889/2008. The EU-Bio-Siegel ( www.oekolandbau.de ) is the Europe-wide uniform umbrella symbol for products from organic farming and prohibits the use of genetic engineering and mineral nitrogen fertilizers, demands animal welfare, reduction of energy consumption and conservation of raw material reserves.
We reject the use of chemical-synthetic fragrances, colors and preservatives, mineral oils or parabens. As a guarantee for this, all Santaverde cosmetic products carry the NATRUE seal of approval for certified natural cosmetics ( www.natrue.org ). The internationally recognized label defines a very demanding quality standard for ingredients and manufacturing processes that all certified products must meet.
Environmentally friendly advertising material, outer packaging and climate-neutral shipping
We also implement our ecological standards for packaging and advertising materials. Advertising materials such as flyers, catalogs and sample cards are printed on 100% recycled paper. The FSC paper ( www.fsc-deutschland.de ) used for the product packaging comes from European sustainable forestry, which is committed to the environmentally friendly, socially acceptable and economically viable use of forests. Clear-cutting and the use of genetic engineering are prohibited. In addition, native tree varieties are planted.
All product packaging and advertising materials are produced in a climate-neutral manner using vegetable oil-based printing inks. When it comes to our product packaging, it is important to us to produce as little waste as possible and, above all, not to do greenwashing. We also use FSC, mono-material and grass paper for transport packaging and as far as possible do without plastics. In addition, the Santaverde parcels within Germany are sent in an environmentally friendly and climate-neutral manner via DHL Go Green.
2. We act fairly and socially
Fair trade cultivation project for coconut oil
The conception of our product recipes always follow the goal of including as many raw materials as possible from controlled organic cultivation, wild collection and fair trade in the list of ingredients in order to support the underlying projects with our raw material purchasing. Our coconut oil, for example, which is contained in many of our products, is Naturland Fair certified ( www.naturland.de ) and comes from Sri Lanka.

3. We love animals
Against animal testing
With our corporate philosophy of ecology and ethics, the welfare of animals is important to us. Cosmetic products and raw materials tested on animals and their distribution have been prohibited by law within the EU - however, this law does not apply outside the EU. We support the global fight against animal testing. That is why all Santaverde cosmetic products carry the recognized Leaping Bunny seal of approval ( www.crueltyfreeinternational.org ).
We completely dispense with ingredients of animal origin - both in the production process and in the end product. All Santaverde products are vegan right from the start and have had the official seal of the Vegan Society since 2015 ( www.vegansociety.com ).
Commitment to street animals
Our aloe vera finca in Andalusia, near Estepona, is also animal-friendly: As often as possible, we give stray dogs a new home here. Usually four to five dogs live with us. They enjoy the hustle and bustle of production and the pats of the finca visitors.
We get the dogs from the organization Adana ( www.adana.es ), which takes care of the countless street animals . In addition, the reception station for abandoned animals receives support through donations in kind and money from Santaverde.
4. We use what is already there
Our company headquarters in Hamburg
In 2012, the Beer family's private home became too small for the family plus Santaverde. Instead of building a new company building and using a lot of new raw materials in the process, Santaverde decided to keep the old building fabric. An old chocolate factory in Groß Borstel, adjacent to a park with ancient trees from the 18th century, has been carefully revitalized and supplemented with modern architecture.
On the 7,000 square meter property, studios and lofts were built, for which the architect Ingo Pott used as little highly processed and chemically treated materials as possible. He decided on the materials glass, concrete and untreated steel. The old floors were left or covered with oiled woods. The furniture is also made of wood and recycled wood scraps as well as a small proportion of low-energy plastics without complex coatings. Good thermal insulation was achieved anyway and switched to gas and green electricity.
