mekhada started importing Kazuri ceramic jewelry from Kenya and its own collection in 1998. The Kazuri necklaces are elaborately handcrafted. Ein besonders interessantes Recycling-Projekt ist BAWA Hope. 'Flügel der Hoffnung'. In den Armenvierteln von Nairobi werden alte Türknäufe aus Messing in einfachen Öfen eingeschmolzen. Daraus entsteht moderner Schmuck den die Gründerin Anne mit immer neuen Ideen entwirft.
Ebenfalls beliebt ist der kolumbianische Tagua Schmuck, gewonnen aus der Steinnuss dem Samen einer Palmenart.
