Bordys In 2018, Kiki Swinkels and Karen Willings released their first series 'North Sea full of Character' under the Bordy's brand, plates with a story. Bordy's was created from a love and passion for creating, dining and illustrating. The story, written by Kiki Swinkels, is told in a series of six dinner plates. The colorful illustrations were designed and drawn by artist Karen Wullings and applied by hand to high-quality porcelain that is dishwasher, microwave and oven safe. Inspiration Each Bordy's series is a culinary ode to Dutch fauna, such as North Sea fish, crustaceans, game and chickens. Inspiration is drawn from the diverse characters of animals within the specific theme, which gives each board its own character. The goal is to bring a big smile to the table. The stories and illustrations are therefore always made with humor and a wink. Original gift The signs are not sold separately, because together they tell a story. The plates come together with the story in a beautiful gift box. The story and the characteristic illustrations make Bordy's a popular gift to give and is a nice addition to any tableware. Our story Karen Wullings studied at the Royal Art Academy in The Hague. Kiki Swinkels at the School of Journalism in Zwolle and Writers' School in Amsterdam. An ideal combination for plates with a story. They both grew up on the Reeuwijkse Plassen, where their love for animals with their funny characters originated. Two blond girls who fished with cross nets and casting rods, who got into their Optimist to disrupt poachers, to whom the entire village brought abandoned ducks that were then raised with love, where geese sat on their laps and goats were taken to school for a speech ...actually they haven't changed a bit after all these years.
