Recycled Poop Bags, Made in EU, Blue Angel certified

Our recycled dog waste bags in small-roll format are produced in Poland from at least 80% post-consumer recyclate (PE). We worked for years to be able to manufacture this product in the EU. For our European sales markets, this means transport distances are much shorter than for bags from the Far East.
Certification - Blue Angel
The Blue Angel is the environmental label of the German Federal Government and provides guidance when shopping. The DE-UZ 30a award criteria distinguish products in which at least 80% of the plastic content consists of post-consumer recycled plastics and whose content of harmful substances is limited.
At least 80% post-consumer recyclate (PE)
These dog waste bags consist of at least 80 % post-consumer recyclate (PE), i.e. plastic that has already been used, including plastic packaging from household recycling collections. This conserves resources, as no new crude oil has to be extracted for the starting material and because significantly less CO₂ is produced when recycling PE compared to the production of new granulate. Processing high proportions of post-consumer recyclate (PE) places particular demands on material preparation and film production. Nevertheless, we can manufacture these bags with a film thickness of only 15 micrometres.
Quality and handling
Our recycled poop bags not only impress with their eco-friendly design, but also with their outstanding quality:
• Excellent handling: the sticker is easy to remove and the excellent tear-off perforation makes it effortless to separate the bags from the roll. The feel of the film is pleasant.
• Safe to use: With a thickness of 15 micrometres, the bags are leak-proof, stretchy and tear-resistant.
• Space-saving: The bags are wound tightly on the roll and fit into almost any jacket pocket and many dispensers.
FSC®-certified packaging material
The packaging (boxes) used for our recycled poop bags are all made from FSC-certified material. The core of the roll and the sticker that holds the small rolls together are made of cardboard or paper.
Correct disposal
Dog waste bags – regardless of the material – should always be disposed of in accordance with local waste disposal regulations. As a rule, due to possible pathogens in dog waste, they belong in residual waste for thermal recovery. During waste incineration, the high heating value of the material used (PE) comes into play: this allows a large amount of energy to be recovered. As long as fossil raw materials such as crude oil are still burned to generate energy, it also makes sense to use the same material (PE) beforehand to manufacture such products.

As a student, our founder Arne noticed almost 100 dog waste bags lying on the side of the road in 2013 while jogging around Hamburg’s green spaces and canals over a distance of approx. 5 km. Shocked by the sheer number of plastic bags, the desire arose to solve this problem and reduce the negative impact of plastic on the environment. In the same year, Arne developed biodegradable dog waste bags for cities and municipalities, together with a Swiss company. This makes him one of the world’s pioneers in this area. In 2016, he founded The Sustainable People. The Sustainable People is a manufacturer of eco-friendly designed innovative everyday products in the areas of pet supplies, garbage disposal and packaging. Together with our customers, we help to reduce the environmental impact of plastic. Our core range includes dog waste bags and garbage bags made of different materials and in different sizes. We also offer suitable accessories. This was an interactive map in which users could enter the places where they found dog waste bags in the environment. With this environmental project, we were able to reach over 7 million contacts through reporting in various media and thus contribute significantly to raising public awareness of the problem. This consists in the fact that the bags usually used consist of approx. 90 % conventional plastic. Fatal and much more problematic than with shopping bags: dog owners understandably like to walk their dog in green spaces or by the water - where it is particularly painful when the bags are released into the environment. In 2016, The Sustainable People GmbH was founded. Since then, our young company has developed rapidly. Many of our B2C products are already available in hundreds of shops and inspire our environmentally conscious customers.
