About Studio Binck

My name is Geertje de Ruijter and I live and work as an independent artist in The Hague. From an early age I was always drawing. I love portraying animals. Mainly birds, fish, reptiles and insects. I like to draw quirky beady eyes and outspoken characters. Color drives me and I like to get lost in details. Every pencil line and brush stroke counts. I get my inspiration from nature, travel and interior design. Every animal you see here really exists. They all have a name. In most cases there is a story behind the portrait, often personal. This is how Studio Binck was created.

I use different techniques and materials for my art. Everything starts with a sketch. Then I use watercolor paint, watercolor pencils and acrylic paint, sometimes supplemented with other materials. We make reproductions of the originals. I also sell postcards of my work. Who are we? I take the portraits and my husband takes care of the reproductions.
