Information

The Samura Harakiri knife set brings together three knives of different sizes for everyday prep: a 99 mm paring knife, a 150 mm utility knife and a 208 mm chef's knife. Together they cover a wide range of kitchen tasks, from peeling small fruit to chopping vegetables and slicing meat and fish. All three have AUS-8 stainless steel blades and black ABS plastic handles.Blade and steelThe blades are made from a single layer of AUS-8 stainless steel and hardened to 58–59 HRC. In practice, this hardness holds a working edge through everyday cutting, and you can restore it on a whetstone when it dulls. AUS-8 is a corrosion-resistant stainless steel. All three knives have a double-bevel edge, ground on both sides of the blade, so resharpening stays straightforward. The chef's knife has a wide, long blade for chopping and slicing, the utility knife has a medium-sized blade for smaller jobs, and the short paring knife is made for peeling and cutting small fruit and vegetables.Handle and balanceThe handles are made of durable black ABS plastic and secured with classic rivets. Like the rest of the Harakiri series, the knives have a full-tang construction, and they are light in the hand: the three knives weigh 212 g net in total.Best uses Peeling and cutting small fruit and vegetables with the paring knife Preparing salad ingredients, cheese and sausage with the utility knife Chopping vegetables such as cabbage and onions with the chef's knife Slicing boneless meat and portioning fish with the chef's knife Slicing bread with the utility or chef's knife What's in the set Paring knife 99 mm Utility knife 150 mm Chef's knife 208 mm Care and sharpeningRinse the knives with hot water and wipe them dry before first use. Wash them by hand with non-abrasive materials and wipe them dry; a dishwasher is not recommended, and do not leave them in the sink for long. Cut on wooden or plastic boards, never on glass, leave bones to a SAMURA cleaver and frozen food to a double-sided serrated saw knife, and store the knives in a brush block or knife holder where the blades do not touch metal items. Use a honing rod between sharpenings and sharpen on a whetstone at the original factory bevel angle of 15–17°.About the Harakiri seriesThe Harakiri series is a sleek, modern SAMURA collection with AUS-8 steel blades in the classic European style, full-tang construction and durable ABS plastic handles secured by classic rivets. The knives are lightweight and corrosion-resistant, and like all SAMURA knives they come with a 2-year warranty.

Our Mission & Philosophy We constantly experiment with shapes and materials — from classic multilayer Damascus steel and G-10 handles to modern mono-steel designs and bamboo-inspired forms. Each of our 20+ collections has its own character, yet they all share one goal: to deliver a flawless cutting experience. A Brief Journey to Excellence The story of Samura began in 2003. The company’s founder, Alexey Yakovlev, inspired by Japanese culture and the exceptional quality of traditional blades, set an ambitious goal: to make true Japanese sharpness accessible to a wider audience. In the early years, he regularly traveled to Japan, working closely with local crafters and gradually absorbing their knowledge and techniques. Over time, Samura established its own production of designer knife collections while preserving what matters most — premium steel blades with razor-sharp edges. Today, Samura is an international brand with a distinctive identity and an uncompromising approach to quality.
