The straw is made of 100% medical grade silicone and consists of 2 parts; a mouthpiece and a straw that reaches the bottom of the bottle. This allows drinking in two ways: you can drink with the straw by holding the bottle upright, but the straw can also be removed, leaving only the mouthpiece, then you can drink by tilting the bottle.
