This handmade soapstone product comes from Tabaka, Kenya. The stone has a natural variation in color, ranging from white to gray, yellow and reddish tones, often with beautiful veins. The raw material is extracted on site from quarries, after which self-employed artists process it with simple tools. The finishing, such as washing, waxing and polishing, is usually done by women in the family. Each shape is unique due to the manual production process. This copy has a lucky symbol and is available in different designs.

All of our soapstone artifacts come from Tabaka / Kisii. The quite soft natural stone is worked 100% by hand - beaten, carved, sanded, polished and sometimes also painted. We work on site with 26 producers, who in turn pass their orders on to the mostly independent carvers / artists. The color of the stone varies between white, gray, yellowish and reddish shades and is mostly interspersed with different grains. This makes each product unique due to its shape and color. I am on site in Tabaka 3 times a year. During this time it can happen that the order is delivered with a little delay.
