Mumutane is an inspirational mix of the Nordic aesthetics and vibrant African expression. African wax print textiles contain a lot of tales of life in Africa, which gives the products a special dimension and story.
Every cushion is unique. The front is made of wax print textiles purchased by women who run small, local textiles shops in Westafrica. The back is made of leftover textiles from the Danish upholstery company, Kvadrat.
The objective is to create ’products with purpose’, which is why Mumutane has a sustainable approach with a focus on minimising textile waste and production at social impact tailoring businesses in Denmark to create jobs for vulnerable women.
Mumutane is B Corp-certified, doing business as a force for good, and was awarded 'Product of the Year' in 2021 at the biggest design and interior fair in Denmark.
