She herself has a pair of Viennese chairs dating back to 1890 that she bought at an auction, and they still hold up in their original condition.
The manufacturer is named TON after the Czech Michael Thonet, who started producing furniture 160 years ago in a small town in the east of what is now the Czech Republic. At that time it was called the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
