About Heindesign
The stamp history at Heindesign actually started quite harmlessly. With a vacation in America in 1986. It was there that Wolfgang Hein met Diana Arseneau, who moved to Germany in 1987. With this, those who were to turn the German and European stamp world upside down in the next few years had found each other.
Heindesign was founded in 1987 after Diana and Wolfgang sold their first stamps with great success at the Mini-Press Fair in Mainz. In the first few years the stamps were sold almost exclusively at flea or craft markets. Soon, however, the first catalogs were published, and since then it has been possible to order stamps by post throughout Germany and beyond.
After a trip in 1990 to the motherland of the colorful picture stamps America, the plan arose to organize a stamp fair in Germany. At that time, Heindesign only exhibited for picture stamps at a trade fair. That was an overwhelming experience that had a decisive influence on Heindesign's further path. Because it was there that the first contact with the American company Judi-Kins was made.
In 1992 the time had come for the first stamp Mecca to take place in Hagen. Even the first Mecca in an old brewery was a complete success: 13 exhibitors and almost 400 visitors.
In 1994 the stamp Mecca moved to a larger venue and the stamp Mecca came into the museum in 1996. Since 1997 the biggest, most beautiful stamp fair in Europe has been taking place in the town hall in Hagen.
In 1995 the Heindesigner dared to take a big step and opened a stamp shop in Dortmund's pedestrian zone with a previously unseen selection of stamps from America and their own production.
In 1997 the Dortmund store was closed. In the same year the extremely fruitful collaboration with Judi-Kins began. Judi-Kins made it possible for Heindesign to produce motifs under license, which opened up a wide range of American stamp ideas.
Undeterred by the many handicraft trends, Heindesign still propagates the creative use of stamps today - simply because it is so much fun and has given so many people access to creativity.
