Information
In Monet's time, La Corniche was still a mountain road, now it is the main road between Nice and Monaco. The sun is high, the shadow of the walker is small. Monet makes the colors sparkle: red, green, blue – everything shimmers in the sun. The painting was already donated to the Rijksmuseum in 1900, when Monet's work was still completely unknown in the Netherlands. We also sell matching frames in different colors.
In Monets tijd was La Corniche nog een bergweggetje, nu is het de grote weg tussen Nice en Monaco. De zon staat hoog, de schaduw van de wandelaar is klein. Monet laat de kleuren schitteren: rood, groen, blauw – alles zindert in de zon. Het schilderij werd al in 1900 aan het Rijksmuseum geschonken, toen het werk van Monet in Nederland nog totaal onbekend was. Wij verkopen ook bijpassende lijsten in verschillende kleuren.
