The beautiful swaying hemp fields make a big impression on many tourists who cycle through Groningen in the summer. However, it is 'fiber hemp', an age-old crop that is making a comeback for many sustainable products. And recently also for a particularly mild and relaxing cup of hemp tea.

* Fascinated by the hemp plant
When sustainability consultant Esther Molenwijk discovered the hemp plant, she quickly became completely captivated by it. The centuries-old crop can be grown organically with ease and requires little water. Moreover, hemp absorbs a lot of CO2 and improves the soil. The strong natural fibers can be used for many sustainable applications. "I was immediately fascinated by it", says Molenwijk. "How is it possible that this durable, strong crop has been so forgotten? I decided to change course and commit myself to the rediscovery of this plant."
