About CafCaf Kaffeeshop
Our Colombian coffees are traded directly, i.e. we import them directly from the coffee producer and pay the coffee farmer a very fair price.
Matthias had his first contact with the coffee nation Colombia 13 years ago when he was seized by a thirst for adventure and he packed his backpack to travel through South America as a backpacker. The people, the lifestyle, the colors and the smells of Colombia immediately cast a spell over him. And when he had the chance to try an authentic Colombian coffee on a coffee farm, it was finally over for him.
Back in Germany, the trained graphic designer started his blog CafCaf to express his newly discovered passion for coffee, especially coffee from Colombia. What started out playfully soon turned into a real heart project. Not least out of curiosity for a deeper knowledge of coffee and the longing to better explore the Colombian soul, further trips to Colombia followed. The passion for the country, the people and coffee then culminated in a film project in which Matthias and his collective colleague Maik Reichert made a documentary film that enables unprecedented insights into the everyday life of Colombian coffee farmers.
Seized by the open-mindedness and friendliness of the farmers, impressed by their everyday challenges and absolutely overwhelmed by the unique taste of the coffee, the idea of finding a way to support the farmers as well as this convincing coffee taste slowly grew after the trip for the film project to make it accessible to a wider audience.
After careful consideration, further trips to coffee farms in Colombia, fruitful negotiations and a successful crowdfunding, Matthias was able to launch the CafCaf coffee shop in 2020.
But even the best coffee shop is nothing without good coffee. And Eduardo and Miguel Ángel, with whom Matthias works closely and trustingly, are responsible for that.
