Preparation Method: The “101” in Ksheerabala 101 refers to the traditional preparation method, in which the mixture of Bala decoction, cow's milk and sesame oil is boiled/heated 101 times (avartana in Sanskrit). How this works in classical Ayurveda preparation: first a decoct (decoction) of Bala (Sida cordifolia) is made. This is mixed with sesame oil and cow's milk. The mixture is slowly cooked until all the moisture has evaporated and only the oily substance remains. This process is done again, each time adding new decoction and milk.
