Savonnerie de la Cigogne was born in 2015, in the heart of Ried in Central Alsace. Remzi Murat, its founder, joined forces with Aleppo master soap makers who had taken refuge in Turkey in Gaziantep, the first town bordering the city of Aleppo in Syria. Our soap factory is part of a solidarity approach and wishes to promote authentic and totally natural Aleppo soap. The ethics of Savonnerie de la Cigogne are based on fair trade which seeks to perpetuate this ancestral know-how, to allow artisan soap makers in Aleppo to make a living from it, as well as to promote real soap from 'Aleppo.
