Description This annual herbaceous plant is on average 60 to 80 cm high. Its root is pivotal. The stems are ridged, glabrous and strongly branched. Les feuilles alternes, composées et deux à trois fois pennées, sont portées par un pétiole embrassant et long et mesurent environ 13 cm par 12 cm de large. Elle donne des petites fleurs blanches très odorantes qui forment des ombelles. Ses fruits sont des diakènes rayés. Cette plante tolère très bien la sécheresse et pousse dans des zones où les conditions climatiques sont souvent rudes. Elle serait originaire d’Ethiopie mais elle est principalement cultivée en Inde aujourd’hui. Elle est présente jusqu’à Java et aux Philippines.
