* Relax and drink Hemp tea! The beautiful swaying hemp fields make a big impression on many tourists who cycle through Groningen in the summer. However, it is 'fiber hemp', an age-old crop that is making a comeback for many sustainable products. And recently also for a particularly mild and relaxing cup of hemp tea. * Fascinated by the hemp plant When sustainability consultant Esther Molenwijk discovered the hemp plant, she quickly became completely captivated by it. The centuries-old crop can be grown organically with ease and requires little water. Moreover, hemp absorbs a lot of CO2 and improves the soil. The strong natural fibers can be used for many sustainable applications. "I was immediately fascinated by it", says Molenwijk. "How is it possible that this durable, strong crop has been so forgotten? I decided to change course and commit myself to the rediscovery of this plant." * Nice and relaxing cup of tea When she found out that the Groningen farmer Albert Dun did not use the leaves and flowers of his hemp plants, the idea of hemp tea was soon born. The tea turned out to be wonderfully mild, fresh and slightly sweet with an intense aftertaste. In addition, it has a naturally relaxing effect (without 'high' of course!). In 2015, Esther started a crowdfunding campaign that provided the starting capital to make the first hemp tea harvest come true. Dutch Harvest can now be found in hundreds of (nature) stores. * Herbs only - no flavors or other additives Dutch Harvest hemp tea is available in a pure variant and three blends. These have been carefully put together with the help of a tea sommelier. Of course with only pure, organically certified herbs. No sugars, no flavors, no ... nothing. Free of aromas and caffeine, full of the power of hemp. * Packing at a sheltered workshop in biodegradable packaging The packaging is made of bioplastic and paper made from agricultural waste. So the bag can go to the organic waste and composts completely. Dutch Harvest is packed at a social work company, which also takes care of shipments to shops. * From plant to customer Dutch Harvest is now growing rapidly and hemp tea is also being discovered outside the country's borders. "I am proud that we succeeded in making the public aware of this local product," says Molenwijk. "And what could be more fun than having such a whole process under control, from plant to customer!"
