The McLaren F1 GTR is the track variant of the McLaren F1 launched in 1995 and produced for GT class races such as the BPR Global GT Series, FIA GT Championship, JGTC and British GT Championship. Under the hood it was powered by the powerful BMW S70/2 V12 engine. It is most famous for winning the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans, where it took on the faster, purpose-built prototypes in very wet conditions. The McLaren F1 GTR raced internationally until 2005 when the last racing chassis was retired. Gordon Murray, creator of the McLaren F1, envisioned his creation as the ultimate road car. During development, Murray had no intention of racing the car. Despite that, the car uses many racing technologies and designs. It also didn't take long for the car to finally compete in its first race at the BPR Global. Eventually Murray relented and agreed to convert the F1 into a racing car, agreeing to build several chassis for competition in the 1995 season. Car On Paper was founded by 2 friends with a passion for cars. Our joint passion brought us to illustrating our favorite cars and print them on poster format. We started by illustrating and printing the Porsche GT3. Friends and family reacted so enthusiastic to our design and asked us if we could print a version for them as well. This gave us the idea to illustrate and offer more iconic and supercars on our webshop. Many designs later, Car On Paper is becoming a well known brand in the car community.
