I am Angelina Severino, a visual artist and designer based in Amsterdam. POSTERESS is my alter ego, and also the name of my poster art project that declares graphic design as an independent, self-sustainable form of art. The poster as an advertising format has practically disappeared from the streets and moved to the web, where it transformed into animated banners, website headers and popup ads. The format of the artistic printed poster therefore becomes an artefact. Poster Art now finds its place in private homes, offices, hotels, where it retains its "art for the people" status and its advertising duties, this time around promoting art in everyday life. With my work I want to show that the poster is not just a functional tool for boosting sales, it is an art form in itself.
