Kat & is opgericht door Laura & Melissa uit Utrecht, Nederland. Beiden zijn afgestudeerd aan de kunstacademie en hebben een achtergrond in communicatie en grafisch ontwerp. Daarnaast hebben ze een andere gedeelde liefde: katten! Toen die twee passies samenvielen, ontstond Kat &: een merk vol kattenideeën. Laura en Melissa ontwerpen zelf alle producten, en in sommige gevallen produceren ze ook zelf. Originaliteit, duurzaamheid en kwaliteit zijn belangrijke waarden bij het bedenken en maken van Kat &-producten.
